В сентябре 2007 г. в Вене на очередном Европейском конгрессе кардиологов впервые были публично представлены результаты исследования ADVANCE, посвященного предотвращению сердечно-сосудистых осложнений у больных сахарным диабетом 2 типа (СД 2). Решение этой проблемы ? одна из важнейших задач современной медицины. Эпидемия сахарного диабета, захлестывающая сегодняшний мир, ведет к ранней инвалидизации и смертности миллионов таких больных. Как правило, трагические исходы обусловлены сердечно-сосудистыми осложнениями сахарного диабета 2 типа (СД 2), в первую очередь ишемической болезнью сердца.
