Высокая частота сахарного диабета 2 типа в пожилом возрасте в совокупности с возрастным риском когнитивных нарушений приводит к тому, что когнитивные нарушения становятся серьезной проблемой в диабетологии. Учитывая дальнейшее прогнозируемое постарение населения, можно ожидать, что выявление и лечение когнитивных нарушений при сахарном диабете будет привлекать все большее внимания. Необходимы новые исследования для того, чтобы лучше понимать механизмы возникновения и прогрессирования когнитивных нарушений.
