В сентябрьском номере журнала Европейской ассоциации по изучению сахарного диабета (EASD) ?Diabetologia? была опубликована серия из четырех статей. В них анализировались эпидемиологические данные регистров Германии, Швеции, Шотландии и Великобритании о применении инсулина гларгин и риске развития рака. Практически одновременно на сайте EASD (www.easd.com) было опубликовано заявление о позиции EASD по этому вопросу, за которым вскоре последовали аналогичные заявления Американской диабетической ассоциации (ADA), Американской ассоциации клинических эндокринологов (AACE), международного общества эндокринологов (ISE) и Международной диабетической федерации (IDF).
