Согласно международным и национальным рекомендациям, в большинстве стран мира метформин признан сахароснижаю- щим препаратом первой линии терапии для пациентов с сахарным диабетом 2 типа (СД2). Однако, в большинстве случаев, через некоторое время таким пациентам требуется интенсификация лечения при помощи комбинации метформина с дру- гими сахароснижающими препаратами. Целью исследования EDGE (эффективность контроля диабета вилдаглиптином и комбинацией вилдаглиптина с метформином по сравнению с другими режимами комбинированной сахароснижающей терапии) являлась оценка эффективности и безопасности вилдаглиптина в сравнении с другими режимами терапии пе- роральными сахароснижающими препаратами (ПССП) у пациентов с СД2 и неадекватным контролем гликемии на моно- терапиии в условиях реальной клинической практики.

According to international consensus, metformin is acknowledged as a first-line therapeutic agent for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, in most cases this treatment eventually requires intensification by supplementation with other hypoglycemic medications. The aim of the EDGE study (Effective Diabetes control with vildaGliptin and vildagliptin/mEtformin) was to assess the efficacy and safety of vildagliptin in comparison with other oral agents in routine management of patients with T2DM that has been poorly controlled by metformin monotherapy.
